Bread of Life
hosphouse.org/meals
Teams of people from St. Luke’s are responsible for the evening meal at the Hospitality House of Boone NC on the First Tuesday of every month. Volunteers shop for, cook and serve the meal in the professional kitchen at their facility on Brookhollow Road. We especially need team leaders who can cook for 50-70 people.
Mary Boyer Community Garden
St. Luke’s is blessed to have a beautiful space and a large garden that provides food for many local places. During the planting and harvesting times of the year, people can volunteer to come work in the garden. Even if you do not have a “green thumb” you are welcome to take part in caring for this beautiful space.
Summer Feeding Program
Each summer St. Luke’s sponsors a number of families providing food boxes for them during the summer months when children are out of school. This program helps to keep young children and their families fed when they might not have access to food. From gathering food from our garden, shopping for non-perishable items, sorting and packing boxes, and delivering the boxes to the family there is a place for everyone in making this ministry happen.
Angel Tree
Each Christmas our Great Hall is decorated with a magnificent tree and along with the tree are special ornaments that our members can take home with gift wishes on them. These gifts go to children and their families within the greater Boone community. The gifts are collected during the month of December and sorted and delivered to the families for Christmas.
The garden is located on the property to the right of the drive as you are coming up the hill to the church. St. Luke’s folks and other volunteers from the community work to plant, till and harvest fresh produce to be distributed to any who need it. This year we will provide produce to the FARM Cafe, Bread of Life Ministry, Hospitality House and anyone else in need of fresh produce.
Hospitality House
Hospitality House of Boone, a non-profit organization, serves seven counties (Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes, Yancey) in northwestern North Carolina helping those in crisis, poverty and homeless situations rebuild their lives.
Each month, St. Luke’s organizes a group to help cook and serve a full meal at the Hospitality House in Boone. Whether you are a leader, or sign up to cook or serve, this ministry is a great opportunity to have a little fun and serve a lot of people in an important way.

Community Care Clinic
ccclinic.org
The Community Care Clinic was established in 2006, in response to a growing number of uninsured in our community. Nearly 1 in 3 adults in Watauga County do not have health insurance. The clinic is located in the Hannah Building (the former Health Department) off of Bamboo Road, on Health Center Drive. Medical services include primary care, care in a range of specialties, and health education. Reduced cost dental and vision care are offered by Appalachian Dental Care, and Western Carolina Eye Associates. Volunteerism (both medical and non-medical) continues to be vital in providing healthcare to the many uninsured patients that we serve.
